Dental Fillings

When decay is detected on a tooth it must be removed to prevent its spread. Traditionally dentists have used amalgam to fill small cavities. Amalgam is a mixture of metal materials. 


Amalgam fillings can have a downside. As noted in a literature review published in the Journal of Dental Health, Oral Disorders & Therapy, metal fillings can weaken a tooth's strength by up to 50%. More dentists now use a composite of glass and acrylic resin, which is tooth-colored material. In comparison, white fillings made of composite materials can increase tooth strength for long lasting results!
